Creating a Custom Cushion Template

Do you have a seat that is not a rectangle or square? Is it a really odd shape? No problem! At Cushion Pros, our craftsmen can create just about anything you can imagine. In order to make your special custom cushion we will need a template. A template is a pattern that is cut out from paper or cloth; we have found that brown wrapping paper works best.

ORDERS MUST BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO SENDING CUSTOM TEMPLATE(s).
(This ensures the template will be associated with the correct order.)

THE FOLLOWING MUST BE INCLUDED (MBI) WITH THE CUSTOM TEMPLATE(s):

• Mark your pattern with your name and invoice number
• Please mark the location of the zipper and placement & type of fasteners
• Write down any special instructions
• Write your fabric choice, boxed or corded, thickness, quantity.
• The template must be cut out in its entirety prior to sending or it will be returned.

By giving us this information there should be no challenge in producing your custom cushion.

Making a custom cushion template (from your existing cushion):

1. Lay the paper on the floor and place your existing cushion on top of the paper.
2. Draw around the outside of the existing cushion.
3. Cut out the shape and your custom cushion will be exactly the same shape as your pattern. Please be sure to double check.
4. Don’t forget to include (MBI).

Making a custom cushion template without an existing cushion:

1. Place a sheet of paper over the chair or bench and press it down into place.
2. Take a marker and draw along the edges of the paper where you would like your template cut.
3. Lay the paper out and cut along the line.
4. Place the template in the chair or bench to make sure it fits properly.
5. Make sure your pattern is symmetrical (both sides are the same) by folding the pattern in half to see if both sides match up.
6. Don’t forget to include (MBI).

Making a wicker custom cushion template:

1. Lay a piece of paper on your wicker seat and press the paper down along the edges.
2. Take a marker and draw along the outside edges of the paper.
3. Cut out the shape of the cushion.
4. Seat back template. Follow the same procedure for the seat back.
   Please note that you need to subtract the thickness of the bottom seat cushion from the back cushion. If the bottom cushion is three inches thick then you need to remove three inches from the back cushion template.
5. After you cut out the templates place them in the chair to check for accuracy. Your new custom cushions will finish exactly the same size as your template.
6. Don’t forget to include (MBI).
