Custom Outdoor Chair Cushions
Patio dining chairs, deep-seating lounge chairs, and rockers almost never match a big-box pad. We cut seat-only or seat-and-back cushions to your width, depth, back height, and thickness, then sew them in Sunbrella and other performance fabrics in Griffin, Georgia.
Seat only, or seat and back
Some chairs only need a seat pad. Others want a matching back — separate cushions, or a hinged one-piece with a pinch or a fabric join so the pad folds over the rail. Pick the layout that matches how the furniture is built, then enter width, depth, back height, and thickness in inches. The 3D preview updates as you type so you can see squared versus rounded corners before you buy.
Dining chairs, deep seating, and rockers
A dining chair usually wants a thinner, tailored seat (often 2–3″) so you still sit at table height. A deep-seating lounge chair wants a thicker seat and a real back cushion — more like indoor living-room proportions on the patio. Rockers and wicker chairs often need ties so the pad stays put when you lean. One designer flow covers all three; the difference is the numbers you enter and whether you add a back.
How to measure a chair cushion
Measure the furniture, not a worn pad. Width is side-to-side at the widest sitting point; depth is front-to-back. For a back, measure width and the height from the seat surface to the top of the rail — chair backs typically run 14–20″. If the front of the seat is wider than the back, capture both widths. Use a tailor’s tape on wicker and curved frames. Our measuring guide walks through each field if you want pictures in your head before you open the designer.
Thickness, ties, and edges
Most outdoor chair seats land at 3–4″; dining chairs can go thinner. Boxed edge looks tailored; knife edge is softer; welting outlines the seam. Fabric ties keep a pad on an open slat seat or a rocker. We place ties in standard positions unless you tell us otherwise — if a rail needs a non-standard tie, call (866) 554-0804 before checkout.
Fill that belongs outdoors
Indoor foam holds water — skip it for an open patio. Densified fiber is the standard outdoor core: rain drains through and the slab can be cut to any footprint. Reticulated foam is the premium upgrade, wrapped in batting, for the fastest dry-out. Both are at home on a dining chair or a lounge chair; the fabric and thickness do more to change the look than the fill name.
Replacement cushions for the furniture you already own
You do not need a matching SKU from the furniture brand. Enter the seat opening or the old cover laid flat (unstretched). We build within ½″ of your numbers. If the set is mixed — two dining chairs and two rockers — order each size as its own line so the covers share a fabric and a dye lot. Swatches first if color has to match a rug or an existing pillow.
Wicker, sling, and metal frames
Wicker and rattan chairs often have a slightly rounded seat and an open back — ties or a snug width keep the pad from walking. Sling chairs are a different problem: the “seat” is fabric, so you are usually adding comfort on top of a hammock-like surface; measure the sitting area you actually use, not the full frame. Powder-coated metal dining sets want a thinner, tailored pad so the chair still slides under the table. If the frame is a brand we keep hard patterns for (NCI, Lane Venture, Hampton Bay, and others), say so when you call and we can confirm the shape.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure for a custom chair cushion?
Measure the seat width and depth at the widest points on the furniture — not a sagging old pad. For backs, measure back width and height from the seat to the top of the rail. Enter the numbers in the designer; we build within ½″.
What fabric is best for outdoor chair cushions?
Solution-dyed acrylic fabrics like Sunbrella resist fading, mildew, and rain. They are the industry standard for patio chair cushions. Order a swatch if the color has to be exact.
Can I order replacement chair cushions for existing furniture?
Yes. Enter the dimensions of the seat opening or the old cover laid flat. If you are between sizes or the frame is odd, call (866) 554-0804.
Do chair cushions need ties?
Ties help on rockers, sling frames, and open slat seats. A snug boxed pad on a deep, enclosed seat often stays put by fit alone. You choose fasteners in the designer.
Seat only or seat and back?
Match the furniture. Dining chairs are often seat-only. Lounge chairs and rockers usually want a back — separate pads or a hinged one-piece. Both layouts are in the chair flow.
